Optis v Apple Trial D

Optis, represented by Tom Hinchliffe QC, leading James Whyte and Jennifer Dixon, was successful in the 4th and final technical trial in the Optis v Apple litigation.  Trial D concerned a code multiplexing structure used on the uplink control channel (the PUCCH) in LTE.  In the judgment, Mr Justice Meade held that Optis’ patents (as amended) were valid, Essential to the LTE standards and had been infringed by sales of Apple’s phones and other 4G devices.   Joe Delaney and Jeremy Heald appeared for Apple.
