The Annual Dinner of the Institute of Barristers Clerks has been hosted by Nicholas Hill, the senior clerk at 3 New Square. The evening, which took place on a fine summer’s evening in the Hall of Middle Temple, was the third and last hosted by Nick Hill in his capacity of Chair of the IBC, a role from which he steps down at the end of his tenure this year. Nick’s speech focussed on the advances that have been made in the role and training of barristers’ clerks as well as the importance of wellbeing issues amongst barristers and clerks alike. Andrew Walker QC, Chair of the Bar Council, responded expressing his gratitude to the contribution of the Institute of Barristers’ clerks and noting the increasing professionalism of clerks and their importance to the functioning of the legal system.
