Apple, represented by Guy Burkill QC with Brian Nicholson QC, has succeeded in reversing the first instance result in the first of four technical trials. The Court of Appeal held that the patent in issue was not standards-essential, as Optis had asserted, and was therefore not infringed. The case report can be found here.
