All aspects of Intellectual Property law, including patents, trade marks, passing off, copyright, designs, confidential information and contractual disputes involving intellectual property or technical subject matter.

Dheemanth graduated from University College London (UCL) with an LLM in Intellectual Property law. Before his studies at UCL, Dheemanth trained and worked as a medical doctor. In addition to clinical experience, Dheemanth also has hands-on experience of lab-based work, having previously been engaged in research on layer-by-layer assembled microcapsules and targeted lipid nanoparticles for drug delivery, and having presented on the same at national and international conferences.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Dheemanth was the research assistant at the Institute of Brand and Innovation Law (IBIL) and to the Rt. Hon. Professor Sir Robin Jacob (former IP specialist Lord Justice of Appeal), assisting with both his academic and advisory work (October 2023 to September 2024). During this time, Dheemanth worked on a number of legal opinions with Sir Robin on complex patent disputes (mechanical and pharmaceutical), contentious trade mark and copyright matters, a contract law matter, and a matter relating to civil procedure and third-party access to court documents.

  • (Instructed) AstraZeneca v Generics (UK) & Ors [2025] EWCA Civ 924 – further applications for interim injunctive relief in the dapagliflozin litigation; holdover injunctions.
  • (Instructed) Generics (UK) & Ors v AstraZeneca[2025] EWCA Civ 903 – revocation proceedings concerning dapagliflozin for treating diabetes; plausibility and technical contribution.
  • Alexion v Amgen & Samsung Bioepis [2025] EWHC 1240 (Pat) – infringement and invalidity proceedings concerning a patent covering eculizumab, a biologic treatment for paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria; including argument on ‘non-technical’ issues of judicial estoppel, approbation and reprobation, and abuse of process.
  • Accordv Novartis (ongoing) – valsartan / sacubitril combination therapy for heart failure; collocation and SPC issues.
  • Merck Serono v Comptroller-General [2025] EWCA Civ 45 – appeal from decision refusing an SPC application for medicinal product ‘mavenclad’ (a second medical use of cladribine) for the treatment of highly active relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis; invited the Court of Appeal to invoke its post-Brexit powers and depart from the CJEU decision in Santen.
  • Halozyme v Comptroller-General [2024] EWHC 3202 (Pat) – appeal from UKIPO decision refusing two SPC applications for combination products of recombinant human hyaluronidase with trastuzumab or rituximab.
  • Celltrion v Novartis and Genentech [2025] EWHC 174 (Pat) –  infringement and invalidity proceedings concerning a patent covering a particular formulation of the antibody omalizumab, a highly successful biologic asthma treatment; allegation of anticipation of an equivalent.
